FORMER Branxholme woman, Sophie Holcombe, who grew up on the family farm is hoping to become another romantic success story and add to the nine marriages and 25 kids to come out of the hit Channel 7 television series, ‘Farmer Wants A Wife’.
Sophie, 25, is the daughter of Michael and Robyn Holcombe who now live in Hamilton but still run the farm at Branxholme.
She has been living in Brisbane and works in public relations and marketing and was lucky enough to be one of 25 eligible single ladies chosen from among thousands who applied to appear on the show, which premiered on Monday, April 10.
In groups of five, the young ladies have been going through the throes and having their farm skills tested in the process of getting to know the five single farmers selected from all around Australia.
Sophie’s mother Robyn said her daughter had been having a lot of fun on the program.
“It’s been a good experience so far,” she said.
“This weekend there’s a ball in the Hunter Valley so all the farmers and the girls go there together.
“She was looking forward to that.”
Episode 3 has already screened and Ms Holcombe escaped being one of the first sent home and remains in the top four for eligible farmer, Brenton, 26, from Darriman, Victoria.
Sophie initially said that she felt like “Brenton and I are getting along very well”.
In the latest episode she said, “I feel like I could be falling in love with Farmer Brenton!”
