Report damage to vehicles caused by dangerous roads

SOUTH-WEST Coast MP Roma Britnell is continuing with her long running campaign on the poor state of south-west roads to demand the attention of the Victorian Government.

Ms Britnell launched a webportal, ‘Report a Road’, this week, to enable local residents to report damage caused to their vehicles as a result of travelling on the south-west road network.

Owners of damaged vehicles can upload photos and report the repair costs on the portal.

Ms Britnell blamed the crumbling state of roads on years of government neglect and mismanagement and has been a vocal advocate for better road maintenance and repairs since being elected in 2015.

She argued that the aging infrastructure was a major safety hazard for motorists and a significant drain on household and business budgets due to the cost of vehicle repairs.

Ms Britnell said people were constantly contacting her to complain about the financial costs they had suffered as a result.

She asked people to fill out the form on the web page to report vehicle damage.

“I need your evidence,” Ms Britnell said.

“Send me your costs and a photo of the damage so I can take it to the Premier.

“I will raise this with the Minister for Roads and Premier, to ensure that Labor have no excuse for failing to repair Victoria’s roads.”

Ms Britnell said ‘Report a Road’ was a crucial tool for South-West Coast residents to hold the government to account for road maintenance.

“Our roads are in a terrible state and it’s time the Andrews Labor Government did something about it,” she said.

“I will continue to hold Daniel Andrews and Labor accountable for the dangerous roads and the damage they are causing to our vehicles.

“The damage details provided by ‘Report a Road’ is one way we can embarrass Daniel Andrews into action.”
