THE Southern Grampians Shire Council (SGSC) has received requests from the respective communities to further consider the SGSC owned caravan parks in Coleraine and Penshurst.
In response and through preliminary engagement with these local communities, Council has developed draft Caravan Park Concept Master Plans for both locations that present facility and amenity improvements not only for visitors but also for the local communities to enjoy.
Acknowledging the growing demand for caravan parks across Australia, these proposed concepts focus on short-term stays with the aim to provide facilities that offer short-term accommodation in unique settings.
In Penshurst, community members have expressed a desire for the site to remain within the Botanic Gardens, while in Coleraine, community members have expressed a desire for the site to relocate to the Railway Reserve, beside the Old Railway Station and Lake.
Community members are also invited to attend drop-in information sessions where residents will have the opportunity to review the concept plans and provide comments and feedback.
The session at Coleraine will be held today from 10am to 1pm at Cambo’s Milkbar & Takeaway (or on the Western District Health Service lawn right next-door, weather permitting).
The session at Penshurst will be held on May 6 from 10am to 1pm inside or outside the new café (weather permitting), on the corner of Martin Street and Bell Street.
