AN art exhibition run by local artist, Carol Scherek, will be hosted at the Hamilton Institute of Rural Learning (HIRL) 10am-4pm today and 10am-12pm tomorrow.
Mrs Scherek has been into painting her whole life - she moved to Hamilton in 1985 with her husband, but originally lived in north-east Victoria and then had a nursing career in Melbourne.
Art was a side project for her, where she was able to go the Victorian Artists Society and mix with artists, while also featuring her artwork in exhibitions around Melbourne.
This weekend’s exhibition will show off Mrs Scherek’s oil pastel sketches and pastels, which she used as a medium during the COVID-19 lockdown when she was restrained to the house.
“The exhibition is open to all ages, for anyone that wants to come and just have a look,” she said.
“I’ve got a lot of paintings that are of the area around here of the landscapes, the buildings, features like Nigretta Falls, I’ve got a few of Port Fairy, quite a lot of the Grampians, so it is just to see if I connect with the people at the exhibition.
“I hope those that attend the exhibition enjoy the paintings.”
