THE Hamilton Basketball Association season rolled on this week with round three games played this week.
Josh Miller continued his impressive start to the winter season, putting up 31 points to lead Minders White to a 29-point victory against St Mary’s Black on Wednesday night.
Miller was the standout on the court, providing plenty of headaches for Black, finishing the game with five three-pointers, showing his ability both in the key and from long range.
No other player from either team able to reach double figures, as White turned a 15-point half time lead into a 60-31 victory at the final buzzer.
Harlie Manson topped the scoring for Black, putting up eight points.
Minders White finished the round in second position with the win, while Black sits in bottom spot without a win in the opening three rounds.
Barber Boys White d St Mary’s Orange
IT was a closer contest in the late game, with Barber Boys White edging out St Mary’s Orange by 11 points.
Nathan Hardingham proved to be a handful for Orange’s defence, putting up 12 points, while Nate Krause and Shai Bunworth offered plenty of support with 11 points each for the winners.
Just two points separated the two teams at the main break, before White finished stronger to claim the win, retaining top spot on the ladder, while Orange is in third spot.
Women’s Division 1
Minders Sportscene d Barber Babes
IT was a one-sided contest to open the Women’s Division 1 games on Tuesday night, with Minders Sportscene accounting for Barber Babes, 47-23.
It was Danielle Vankalken who was the standout, keeping Barber Babes within striking distance throughout the contest, but Minders was too strong in the end, more than doubling Barber Babes’ scoreboard tally.
Vankalken finished with 12 points, while Zoe Hill and Tahlia Ross each hit 10 points to share top scoring honours for Minders in the win.
Minders’ win keeps the team in top spot, while Barber Babes remains in third position.
Tigers d St Mary’s Orange
IT was a thriller to finish the round with Tigers claiming a one-point victory against St Mary’s Orange.
It was a see-sawing contest throughout, with both teams enjoying periods of dominance, but it was Tigers which had the scoreboard advantage when it mattered most, winning 30-29.
Maddison Rhook impressed with nine points for the winners, supported by Maddison Cotten with eight points.
Leesa Iredell was Orange’s best with eight points.
Orange remains in second sport despite the loss, with Tigers equal on points, but sitting in fourth position on percentage.
