A little romance and wine

NARRAWONG author Maya Linnell has officially introduced her fifth and latest novel Kookaburra Cottage, about a sparkling romance between two wine enthusiasts in South Australia’s wine region.

Growing up in the Limestone Coast South Australia, Ms Linnell thought it was time she wrote a story based in the area she’s most familiar with, combined with inspiration from simple talks with her neighbours, reading newspapers, and listening to the radio.

“I thought well, it's time to take it over the border and share the love,” she said.

For a deeper knowledge she would listen to wine making podcasts and talk to a friend who works with wine to learn more about the nature of winemaking.

Tomorrow at the Portland library Ms Linnell will officially launch her new novel, with a free event with refreshments provided.

The event will go from 11am to 12pm, and it would be helpful if people called 5522 2265 to book attendance.

Ms Linnell is grateful for the constant local support she has received.

“Without that local support the books wouldn't have done so well, and people wouldn't be picking him up and recommending them to their friends,” she said.

“That is the very best help people can do for an author, besides buying the book, is talking about the book, and sharing.”
