Rotary Workmanship Awards

ROTARY Hamilton recently held their Pride of Workmanship Awards at The Speckled Frog on June 7 with eight worthy local awardees presented with certificates in recognition of outstanding qualities demonstrated in their workplace.

Established in 1976 by the Rotary Club of Pennant Hills (NSW), the Pride of Workmanship Awards program acknowledges employees who display excellence in terms of approach, attitude, dedication and commitment to their job.

The awards encourage involvement in the community and provide opportunities for employees to make new connections.

Rotary Hamilton vocational director, James Dunn, said the program had been running locally for many years and that generally involved advertising for nominations or canvassing businesses in Hamilton and surrounds.

“This year the vocational committee sought nominations from among its own members and Rotarians went out and approached various businesses to nominate employees,” he said.

“We had eight nominations come forward this year.

“The vocational committee made the decision - because of the high quality of the nominees to accept all the nominations.

“There was a wide variety of business that nominated employees.

“People from the banking industry, aged care, beauty therapy, local optometry, church, plus a local nurse practitioner.

“Next year … we will look at approaching the business houses to seek their assistance in nominating people for the award.”

The worthy awardees were presented with engraved plaques acknowledging their excellence in their particular fields by Rotary Hamilton president, James Dison, in front of guests and Rotarians.
