LAST week Portland Leisure and Aquatic Centre (PLACE) swimming instructor Wanda Grime was granted best swimming instructor in the country.
After 22 years as a swimming instructor in Portland, Ms Grime has been acknowledged for her longstanding and quality commitment to teaching people how to swim.
Last week’s award tops off a huge month of celebration for the teacher.
Previously, she had achieved the AUSTSWIM (The Australian Council for the Teaching of Swimming and Water Safety) teacher of swimming and safety award, which had her running up against 6600 other swimming instructors in Victoria.
She then went on to be awarded with the ARV (Aquatics & Recreation Victoria) award for swim teacher of the year.
And finally, just last week, she was officially awarded national AUSTSWIM teacher of the year.
To top it all off, she was presented her award by Brooke Hanson, one of Australia’s most celebrated swimmers who earned Olympic silver and gold and represented the country over 25 times at major international championships.
