ON Thursday evening the Mud Gallery opened their Miniature Art Exhibition which will be running for the next two months.
The Mud Gallery is a volunteer artist gallery that started 10 years ago and is managed by volunteers and artists under the umbrella of HIRL.
All of the daily operations are managed by gallery staff who are all artists and members of the Mud Gallery.
Artist, Roger Edwards said that the gallery showcases all arts and crafts by local artists.
“The exhibition will mainly show a wall showcasing miniature art and we looked at this because it’s smaller and more affordable (costing $100-$150) compared to larger art and it can go on cabinets rather than having to go on a wall,” he said.
“There is about 60-80 small miniature art pieces and none of the art pieces (including the frame) are bigger than an A4 size.
“We have been able to keep the gallery open for 10 years and we still want to be able to do that, but we are hoping (Thursday night gave) the Mud Gallery a brighter future and hope to bring more people to the gallery.”
The aim of the miniature artwork is to keep the gallery fresh by bringing in new pieces of art - there is also roughly 30 artists involved.
