Voting Yes to The Voice is ‘risky’ and ‘divisive’

WANNON MP Dan Tehan will be hosting a community conversation on the ‘Voice to Parliament’ with guest speaker Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price in Colac this coming Monday, July 24.

Mr Tehan said he was delighted to welcome Senator Nampijinpa Price who is the shadow minister for Indigenous Australians and to provide the community with the opportunity to ask their questions about the Voice referendum.

Mr Tehan said, “it was important that the Australian people, have all the information before them, before they vote”.

“Currently the details of ‘The Voice’, are not being properly explained,” he said.

“It is disappointing Australians are being asked to make the biggest change to Australia’s Constitution in decades, and creating a permanent new body without any details as to how it would operate.

“It is risky, with unknown details, would be permanent and is divisive,” Mr Tehan said.

Senator Price said she was looking forward to joining the community and sharing her perspectives on the referendum and answering questions from the community.

Further details on the event are available at dantehan.com.au or by calling his electorate office.
