PROMINENT Western District Country Party member, Cr Alex McLennan, said yesterday it was imperative that the liberal Party place the CP’s Senator Webster higher on its Senate election ticket. Cr McLennan, of Balmoral, was commenting on a decision made by the Liberal Party’s Victorian executive this week to place Senator Webster third on its ticket instead of second. The decision to relegate Senator Webster has broken a long standing agreement between the Liberal Party and the CP and has met with widespread criticism from CP members. Cr. McLennan said the Liberal Party would have done well when allocating its Senate ticket to place Senator Webster at the top and get rid of a couple of its “old fellows”.
