Digital innovation and excellence

THE spotlight will be on the south-west and future industry trends as part of an upcoming forum in Hamilton next month.

Deakin University and the Southern Grampians Shire Council (SGSC) are partnering for a first of its kind business networking event called ‘Digital Innovation and Excellence in the Great Southwest’ at the Hamilton Performing Arts Centre on August 10.

The free event will showcase how digital innovative resources and practices are expanding across the region, with a range of guest speakers presenting on topics such as digital technology services to support both businesses and the community.

Deakin University campus director, Alistair McCosh, said that they are excited to work in partnership with the SGSC to offer ‘Digital Innovation and Excellence in the Great Southwest’ this August.

“At this free event, you’ll hear from industry and research guest speakers and the opportunity to connect with local business and community leaders like you,” he said.

“We are thrilled to announce this event will feature Dr Gjoko Muratovski, leader of the $6.4 million Deakin Digital Futures Hub, as our keynote speaker.

“Gjoko is an award-winning designer, researcher and innovation consultant, and has over 20 years of global experience working with universities, governments and Fortune 500 companies.

“In his role with the Digital Futures Hub, he aims to open pathways for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to work with Deakin University’s global experts in business, IT, cyber security and more.”

Gjoko’s knowledge will provide an unparalleled insight into current and future industry trends and will be sure to inspire attendees.

Alongside Gjoko, the director of the National Centre for Farmer Health, Dr Alison Kennedy, will discuss a range of innovative techniques which includes digital interventions tailored to the needs of rural farming communities, as well as receiving an update on all things relating to economic development in our region.

Mr McCosh looks forward to seeing leaders, businesses and community members combine for this exciting event.

This event is free; however, tickets are required upon entry - registrations can be completed online via the Deakin website: engage.deakin.edu.au/events/InnovationExcellenceSouthWestHamilton

Registrations are preferred by August 4, 2023.
