Multiple Rail Reserve matters complicate easy resolutions

TWO governance organisations have weighed in on the management of the Hamilton-Coleraine Rail Reserve, pointing to a commitment for the track to continue to be developed for its ultimate goal of a walking and cycling track, and calling for collaboration among the community.

The matter continues to be complicated by a long list of issues including the relatively recent revocation of licences for use of the land by adjoining landowners for stock keeping vegetation in check, arsenic found in soil, disputes about communications with the management committee, conservation of native plants and some parts of the track being used to dump hard rubbish onto.
