VIEW Club supporting children during Anti-Poverty Weeks

SUPPORTING children’s education is a key priority for the Hamilton Evening VIEW Club (Voice, Interests and Education of Women) for this year’s Anti-Poverty Weeks that runs over two weeks during October 15-27.

Originally Anti-Poverty Week, it was established in Australia as an expansion of the United Nations annual international Anti-Poverty day on October 17, 2023 and raises awareness of poverty in Australia and how we can work collectively to eradicate it.

While fundraising plays a vital role in helping children in need, Hamilton VIEW president, Deirdre Benbow, is also inviting local women of all ages to donate their time and skills to join their VIEW club.

“It is also an opportunity to meet like-minded women and help children in need,” she said.

“During (these two weeks) we are encouraging members of the community to support local charities by donating non-perishable goods to help local families experiencing difficulties with meeting cost of living and are doing it tough.

“Any donated goods can be left at the Hamilton Uniting Church and the VIEW Club will then pass them on to where they will do the most good in our community.

“The VIEW Club members thank local people for their support of our efforts to help children in need.”
