ARGYLE Shop 2 is set to close in December 2023 due to a reduced number of volunteers available as well as the cost of rent.

Hamilton Uniting Church chairperson, Ashley Binney, said the second shop was necessary for three years while the first shop accumulated excess donations during COVID and had restrictions on trading.

“We tried other storage solutions but found a new extra shop area was a better option,” he said.

“The decision to close wasn’t made lightly because the ladies who set up the shop did such a wonderful job, however the reduced number of volunteers available is a major consideration, as is costs, which is important in all business.

“The shop gave a great opportunity for community outreach, but now we need to consolidate into one area – we thank the community for their support and look forward to seeing everyone in Shop 1.”
