Support for Cookie’s Charity Run

LOCALS Linda and Ross Sanders hosted Cookie’s Charity Run on Saturday and it was well attended, with 67 motorcycles and 22 cars taking part in the journey from Hamilton to Heywood.

Ms Sanders said the weather was exceptionally good and all participants received a blessing from Reverend Peter Cook OAM prior to taking off.

“The raffle was well supported, and from the generosity of people, the event has raised a total of $8558.45,” she said.

“We were overwhelmed by the support and the turnout, especially since it was such a busy weekend in the area with numerous other events on.

“All of the money has been given to Reverend Peter Cook to help those in need of assistance whether that be by purchasing food or clothing in the lead-up to Christmas.

“Judging by the response from the participants everyone was keen to continue this as an annual event, so we already have our thinking caps on as to how we can make this even bigger next year.

“We will try not to clash with other events next year and would love to see the numbers grow, everyone loves seeing and hearing the rumble of motorcycles and cars together - I think with a little more planning time we hope to encourage many other clubs with motorbikes and cars to come on board and take part.

“We sincerely thank the people and businesses that supported the event with raffle items and thank everyone that participated, donated and supported the event.”
