Hamilton Singers in carol concert

CHRISTMAS wouldn’t be the same without carols.

This weekend, Hamilton Singers will be in concert and featured will be traditional carols, with the audience invited to raise the roof in song.

Also featured will be interesting adaptations of other well-known carols and a couple of carols that are somewhat less well known.

“They’re all traditional carols like ‘Silent Night’ and ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’,” Hamilton Singers president, Jennifer Barke said.

“There will (also) be some very unusual settings of carols that people already know (for example) ‘Hark the Hearld Angels Sing’ is set against ‘Pachabel’s Canon’.”

A piano, organ and treble soloist will add to the music of Christmas.

Seven players of the Hamilton String Ensemble are invited guest artists, as is mother-daughter duo, Maggie and Ella Hartley.

The concert will be held at Good Shepherd Church, 12 Thompson St, Hamilton, this Sunday, December 3 at 2.30pm.
