Get set for Carols by Candlelight

A LINEUP of local musicians will again grace the stage in front of the rotunda in the Hamilton Botanic Gardens on December 8, kicking off at 8pm for Hamilton’s feature Christmas event, Carols by Candlelight.

There will be Christmas themed kids’ activities consisting of games and Christmas crafts from 6.30pm for an hour and entry is free.

There will be a Sausage Sizzle with cold drinks available for a gold coin donation. A coffee truck will also be on site for hot drink purchases.

Candles and glow sticks will also be on sale. All profits raised from the Sausage Sizzle and the sale of candles and glow sticks will go to support Standing Tall in Hamilton.

Supported by the Southern Grampians Shire Council, the musical festivities promise all your old favourite Christmas Carols performed by an ensemble from Hamilton’s churches with backing by local musos, some gospel, and other traditional tunes.

Carols by Candlelight director, Bronwyn Dwight, said rehearsals had been underway since October and she was thrilled to present the show once again.

“It promises to be a musical marvel with lots of local talent on display – there will be a couple of feature artists as a treat for the audience,” she said.

“We’re so blessed in this community with so many talented singers and musicians – it’s a joy to have them share their gifts with the community at this special time of year.

“It’s a family event so be sure to brush up on your carols and come along to join in singing of all your favourites. A lovely way to begin your Christmas celebrations as we celebrate the reason for the season.”

Should the weather turn, the event will be held at the Presbyterian Church in McIntyre St, Hamilton.

“It would be great to have a show of support from the community - we hope to see lots of people there next Friday night.”
