LOCAL businesses have outdone themselves in this year’s Christmas Window Display Competition and community members still have until Tuesday, December 12 to vote for their favourite creation.
Southern Grampians Shire Council (SGSC), together with Western District Chamber (formerly Hamilton Regional Business Association), partnered to run the competition, which brings Christmas joy to the public and supports local traders at the same time.
Mayor David Robertson said a total of 27 local businesses had shown incredible creativity in the competition.
“We are thrilled with the number of businesses that have made a really big effort with their Christmas window displays this year,” he said.
“This competition not only adds a festive touch to our community but also encourages residents to participate and support our local economy actively.”
Cr Robertson said people could vote by scanning the QR code on the poster in a participating shop window and the poster can also be found on council’s Facebook page and website.
“By voting, you’ll not only play a role in celebrating local businesses’ artistic talents, you’ll also automatically enter a draw for a chance to win a $250 buy-local voucher,” he said.
“This voucher can be redeemed at any participating Southern Grampians Shire business.”
Businesses that have entered the competition include Glenn Howell Optometrist, Martin Optometry, WDHS OP Shop, Hamilton Hamper, Bellcourt Books, Health on Gray, Brown Bird Haus, Victoria’s Sights and Delights, Buckle Menswear, Balmoral Post Office, The Pet Shop Hamilton and Hip Pocket Workwear and Safety, Sacks Jewellers, Accurate Clothing, Beatties Newsagency, Mad About Shoes, The Salvation Army Thrift Shop, Elders Real Estate, Yellow Stone Salon, Daktari, Linenhouse, Oscarcare Hamilton, Regent Florist, Provincial Home Living, Clarrie the Cobbler, Findex Accounting and Wannon Water.
The winning window will be announced on December 15.
