Ride the Smoothie Bike to blend your ingredients

GENR8 CHANGE continues to work with the community to increase healthy eating and activity options.

Working alongside the Healthy Kids Advisor, Monique Sobey, a need was identified to purchase a Smoothie Bike for our shire which will provide healthy options at local events and fundraising efforts.

The Smoothie Bike has a blender on top of the front wheel, and you need to pedal to blend your ingredients.

Thanks to the Hamilton Lions Club coming on board as GenR8 Change’s auspice organisation, they were able to apply for a Southern Grampians Shire Community Grant.

“We were very excited to learn that our application was successful and an in-kind contribution from WDHS meant that we were able to purchase our own bike,” WDHS GenR8 Change coordinator, Karen Finch-Huf said.

This resource will be free for the local community to use at their events. Recipes (lactose, dairy and gluten free) and instructions are included with the bike, but people are encouraged to try their own recipes.

It is a great way to whip up a healthy smoothie whilst getting some exercise.

Bookings and enquiries can be made through monique.sobey@kitchengardenfoundation.org.au or kfinch-huf@wdhs.net
