Search for missing woman concludes

THE active search for missing Portland woman Kay has now concluded.

Air Wing, Dog Squad and Mounted Branch officers assisted local police with their search for Kay, who is believed to be familiar with the Portland and Hamilton areas.

At this stage the circumstances surrounding Kay’s disappearance are still being investigated, with police to follow up any further information or reported sightings should any new information come to light.

Elizabeth, otherwise known as Kay, was last seen while on a bushwalk near Swan Lake camping ground in Mt Richmond on Wednesday, December 20 at about 10.45am.

Police and family members were concerned for the 74-year-old due to a medical condition she has and her disappearance is considered to be out of character – it was unclear if Kay became disorientated and wandered off or left her bushwalking group and headed elsewhere.

The search was being coordinated by the Search and Rescue Squad with local police and their specialist supported service also assisted by the State Emergency Service personnel and Parks Victoria.

Kay was last seen wearing a tan coloured broad-brimmed hat, blue-patterned scarf, khaki trench coat, royal purple jacket, deep blue top, light blue jeans and black shoes – she may have been carrying a brown leather duffel and a black bag with orange kneepads strapped to it.

Anyone who sights Kay or has information on her whereabouts is urged to call 000 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
