LOCAL SES units had multiple call outs after the very heavy rainfall across the south-west on Sunday.
SES Barwon South West Region operations manager, Stephen McDowell, said units were kept busy throughout the afternoon until about 9.30pm in the evening.
He said the majority of the jobs were in Warrnambool with units from other towns including in Port Fairy and Camperdown being called in for assistance.
“The bulk of the jobs were in Warrnambool, there were 60 plus call outs,” Mr McDowell said.
“Port Fairy and Camperdown units assisted. They came across to provide support.
“They were mainly flash flooding incidents, dislodged tiles, leaking rooves, but the majority was flash flooding requests for assistance due to intense rainfall in Warrnambool.
“There was also flash flooding in the main street in Heywood.
“Port Fairy only had one job which was a tree down in the Macarthur area.
“All those jobs have now been completed (as of Monday morning) there are no outstanding jobs across the south-west.”
As of 9am Monday morning, Warrnambool Airport gauged 74.6 millimetres since 9am Sunday, while Port Fairy only had 11.6mm. Hamilton Airport, Penshurst and Dunkeld recorded 17.4mm, while Coleraine recorded 12.4mm.
Hamilton SES unit controller, Tim Fry, said Hamilton SES only had one call out.
“That was around 1.30am (Monday) morning,” he said.
“That was a tree down on Digby-Dartmoor Road.”
