Car showcase at drag strip

TOMORROW will see dozens upon dozens of classic cars on show at the South Coast Raceway as the Portland Classic Auto Club hosts their second ever “show n’ shine.”

The first event was held last year, and according to former president Ken Smith was “very successful.”

“We figured given that success we’d come back and do it again, unfortunately the exact turnout we can expect depends entirely on the day,” he said.

“If it’s wet people won’t come out, but on a nice day we could hopefully expect to see about 100 cars out here.

“The Port Fairy one the other week did very well and we’re hoping for similar success with ours this week.

“We usually get a good variety of cars along, of course some classic Australian cars but some American cars and a good roll up of motorbikes as well.”

The gates will open tomorrow from 9am until 2pm, with live music and prizes as a part of the days activities, and in addition to the classic cars and motorbikes on display there will be a burnout show at the track.
