THE new Southern Grampians Shire parking meters will be activated in Hamilton’s CBD on February 1.

To pay for their parking, residents will need to press the screen to start, and then enter their car’s licence plate number and then select how long they will be parked at the destination for.

This will then show the rates and the cost, as well as the time and the date of expiry, you will then tap the screen with your bank card to pay your fee – you can access your receipt  by scanning the QR code that comes up after you pay.

To top-up your payment you need to enter your licence plate number, press top-up and then how much longer you want to be parked for, then you will need to make payment.
