All-Abilities Advocacy meeting

LAST week, the All-Abilities Advocacy (AAA) Network group hosted their first meeting for the year at the Mulleraterong Centre.

The AAA Southwest Victoria is a self-advocacy group run by, and for, people of all abilities, including people with intellectual and physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries and complex communication needs.

These important meetings give members the chance to talk about big issues that are affecting them, like public transport, education, housing, health services, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), employment, community awareness and education, as well as access and activism.

Up to 18 staff and participants from Mulleraterong and other providers in the region attended to enjoy morning tea together and discuss important issues.

The AAA encourages people to join the group to have a voice, learn about their rights, have a say about important issues that affect them and to get involved in projects that bring self-advocates together.

The group works in partnership with a number of local organisations, disability support services and Government services across Victoria.

Anyone who would be interested in attending the next meeting (held in April at Kyeema Support Services, Portland) or get involved is encouraged to contact AAA at allabilitiesadvocacy@gmail.com
