GRAMPIANS National Park was closed on Wednesday due to the Catastrophic fire rating imposed for the Wimmera fire region, but vehicles were sighted in the car parks of both Mt Sturgeon and Piccaninny where the occupants were presumed by local police to be walking in the park.

Dunkeld police senior leading constable, Roger McClure wrote in the Dunkeld and District Newsletter that a total of four vehicles were parked in the car parks between 10-11.30am.
