AN outstanding panel of 35 global experts from as far away as Germany and the United States of America, and local experts, will share their experience and insights at the ‘Raising the Roof 2024’ event later this month to help ensure Australian dairy farmers are investing in the right housing and feeding infrastructure on-farm.
Presented by Dairy Australia and Agriculture Victoria, Raising the Roof 2024 will run from Tuesday, February 27 to Thursday, February 29 in New South Wales’ Hunter Valley.
It is the only Australian dairy industry event dedicated exclusively to intensive farm systems and is designed to help Australian dairy farmers learn global best-practice from international and local experts.
Raising the Roof has not only attracted the 35 expert speakers, it will also feature local experts in intensive farm systems and Australian dairy farmers who have already successfully transitioned their farms to the use of feedpads and contained housing.
Dairy Australia’s national feeding and farm systems lead, Karen Romano, said the event offers a unique opportunity to learn from technical experts on global best practice as well as from other farmers who have already successfully upgraded their farm systems.
“Dairy Australia is committed to providing dairy farmers with access to business planning and risk management tools and insights to support farm decision making and improve profitability,” she said.
“For most farm businesses, the investment in infrastructure such as contained housing systems and feedpads will be the largest expenditure they ever make.
“It’s vital therefore that before making that type of huge financial investment dairy farmers seek the right advice.
“Raising the Roof 2024 is bringing together experts from across Australia and around the globe all into one place to help Australian dairy farmers learn from the best and avoid wasting money on systems or infrastructure that doesn’t suit their local conditions or their long-term plans.
“We have also made sure to include on the panel of speakers a number of Australian dairy farmers who have already transitioned their farms to intensive systems so they can share their experiences and insights from a practical sense to complement our technical experts.”
The full list of speakers for Raising the Roof 2024 can be found on the Dairy Australia website.
The event will also feature virtual and in-person farm visits showcasing the latest innovative thinking in a range of intensive farm systems.
