Behind the scenes with HPAC

THE Hamilton Performing Arts Centre (HPAC) are excited to announce a special opportunity for young people looking to develop their skills in sound, lighting and the technical side of putting on a show.

Young people interested may have a passion for the stage, for behind the scenes, or an eye on a future in show business.

HPAC are offering the chance to go behind the scenes of a live show and delve into every aspect of production, from sound engineering to staging and lighting techniques.

Participants will learn what goes into bringing a production from the page to the stage.

These sessions are being provided for free by the knowledgeable staff at HPAC and are funded by the FreeZA program.

Over the course of two days, 10 lucky young people will learn the craft of stage production, receiving truly hands-on experience and playing a pivotal role in setting the stage for the highly anticipated Emma Donovan Concert on April 11 at 7.30pm.

These participants will then receive free tickets to the show to see the final product they worked to bring to life.

Mayor councillor, David Robertson said that the event is a rare opportunity and has a lot to offer for participants.

“We’re very thankful to the staff of the Performing Arts Centre,” he said.

“This is not the kind of event that comes around often, and the right person will be able to get so much value out of this experience.

“The fact that this is being put on for free shows the dedication of the staff to their craft and their clear vision of spreading their passion, their experience and their art to the next generation.”

The event will be run on April 9 and 10 from 10am-3pm at HPAC and is suitable for people aged 15-25 years but is restricted to 10 places only.
