THE Southern Grampians Shire Council (SGSC) are welcoming all new or existing residents who want to become more active in the community to attend the annual New Residents function.
The function is open to new and existing locals who would like the opportunity to meet other newcomers, mingle and find out just what makes this region tick.
With information about the region and friendly meet and greets with volunteer organisations, community groups, sports teams and more, attendants will have the chance to connect with locals and other newbies.
Refreshments and finger food will be provided including a few ice-breaking beverages to get conversation started.
SGSC mayor, David Robertson said he is looking forward to chatting to both new and existing members of the community.
“One of the best parts of my job is meeting the people who make this region so special,” he said.
“I’m excited to meet everyone who has chosen to make this shire their home.
“We’re honoured that people want to move here and bring their skills and experiences to our region.
“Building relationships can be very difficult in a new place so I’m glad we can roll out the red carpet and show everyone how truly welcome and appreciated they are.”
The event will be held on Monday, April 15 at the Greater Hamilton Library, 105 Brown St Hamilton from 6pm onwards.
