Staying safe on roads

WITH the end of the school holidays in Victoria, authorities have reminded drivers of the importance of watching out for pedestrians, increased traffic in the mornings and afternoons, and to slowdown in school zones.

In February alone, 110 Australians have lost their lives on Victorian roads.

Senator for Victoria, Jana Stewart said, “Deaths on our roads are not just a statistic; they are someone’s parent, child, sibling, colleague, or cherished friend.”

As families have returned from their holidays, drivers should all redouble their efforts to use Victorian roads safely.

Ms Stewart said, “Together, we can reduce the deaths on our roads and keep them safe for everyone, especially our children.”

Drivers can do their part by ensuring they are not distracted, take regular breaks when driving long distances, travel at or below the speed limit and drive to road conditions.

“Road safety affects all Australians each and every day,” Ms Stewart added.
