JULIA Street needs more ramps for the elderly and people with disabilities, a concerned local says.
Leonie Shemeld said the deep bluestone guttering made visiting and shopping in the street difficult for people like herself living with physical disabilities.
“For me, getting up the gutter is actually easier than doing down. But my main concern is for the elderly, who take their walkers out of their cars and have to walk along the street, behind parked cars, until they reach one of the two ramps or the pedestrian crossings.
“I believe it is dangerous and an accident waiting to happen, as there are cars constantly reversing and driving along Julia Street.
“It’s worse when it’s raining and wet. It’s hard.
“I know they can’t do anything about the bluestone guttering because of heritage protection, but more ramps should be added to make it safer.”
Ms Shemeld said her next step was to write to MP for South West Coast Roma Britnell MP.
