Dramus plays auditions tonight

THE hottest tickets in town are for the upcoming acts by Dramus Theatre Inc, with a trio of one-act plays set to sizzle on stage.

The performances include one that has been written and directed by young local actor, Charlotte Stanhope, called ‘Spiral’.

Dramus Theatre Inc member, Isabella Gulline said it was thrilling for Ms Stanhope to write and direct one of her own plays.

Spiral is a psychological thriller about blackmail, betrayal and deceit, and follows Clem, a dissatisfied housewife.

“Clem’s journey is to unmask the truth exposes several shocking revelations,” Ms Gulline said.

“Charlotte is super excited and so proud and happy to be putting on a play that she has written.

“Spiral requires a cast of four people and potential actors will be enthralled by the possibilities to stretch their acting skills.”

Ms Gulline said other first-time directors included cast member, Tom Barras - directing a play called ‘The New Neighbours’.

She said the synopsis of The New Neighbours is when bodies suddenly begin turning up all over the village, two nosy housewives are convinced they know exactly which neighbour is responsible and they are determined to find out the truth.

Abbey Northcote is also directing for the first time, a play called ‘Onion Rings, the tale of a very bad date’.

The synopsis is about a lady named Shirley who has returned to her hometown after 40 years for a school reunion.

“She has been in Facebook contact with Bill, also from her school, and has accepted his invitation to dinner,” Ms Gulline said.

“Things do not go according to plan, Bill’s addiction to onion rings being the least of Shirley’s problems.

“Dramus Theatre has a proud history of supporting up and coming new directors and helping people develop skills in all areas of drama and productions. We look forward to the community being involved and seeing just how much talent the Hamilton area has.”

The plays will be held July 28-30 and August 5-6 at 7.30 pm start, apart from the 30th which will be a matinee performance at 2pm.

Auditions for the performance will be held tonight at the Hadden Theatre from 7.30pm.
