THE Southern Grampians Shire Council has announced that with the Youth Achievement Awards just around the corner, the community now has the opportunity to nominate a worthy young candidate to be recognised for their efforts.
The nominations are for young people aged 12-25 in the region who deserve to be recognised for the special contribution to their community this year.
SGSC mayor, David Robertson said it is a great opportunity for the remarkable accomplishments of young people in the Southern Grampians Shire to be acknowledged.
“The young people in our area are such a fantastic group of people,” he said.
“The youth in our region are committed, engaged and optimistic.
“We’re extremely lucky that our Shire is being left in the hands of such a switched-on section of our society.
“I commend them all and welcome people to nominate special individuals they know.”
To nominate, email thuf@wdhs.net with your name, the nominee’s name and preferred email address (with permission from the parent/carer), and a paragraph describing the nominee and their contribution.
Nominations are due by Friday, May 31 with a special event for selected nominees to be held in June where they will be honoured and celebrated by their peers and community members.
This special recognition event has been organised in partnership between SGSC, Western District Health Service and Brophy, with support from the Engage and Freeza Programs of the Victorian Government.
