GRAY Street Primary School students have created a biodiversity garden after obtaining a Victorian Junior Landcare and Biodiversity Grant.
Over the past few months, Grade 3/4 students have learnt about native plants and animals and the importance of biodiversity when creating habitat.
Students designed the garden and planted a variety of indigenous plants, and also provided a bird bath, nesting box, native bee hotel, butterfly house and a lizard lounge to attract native wildlife.
Gray St Primary School Grade 6 environmental captains, Kerrilee and Mitch, helped supervise the planting of tube stock.
Students eagerly await the arrival of some new birds, insects and possibly lizards in the near future.
