COLERAINE Primary School staff and students were thrilled to announce that they have received a landcare grant for their project, ‘Garden Beds to Kitchen Creations.’

The 2024 Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant will go towards the project to purchase new garden beds to complement the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program, which intends to educate children about growing food and implementing healthy eating habits.

The students will be involved in selecting the garden beds, preparing the soil, planting seeds and seedlings, caring for the plants and best of all, harvesting and eating the produce.

Sustainability and recycling of garden waste will also be a strong focus for this project.

The children and teachers are looking forward to getting their hands dirty and learning from this project – and ensure to keep all updated on their progress.
