AN EIGHTEEN-YEAR-OLD male electric scooter rider was killed at around 4.30pm on Wednesday afternoon when the scooter he was riding collided with a truck near Port Fairy.

Warrnambool Police Highway Patrol officer in charge Sergeant Mark Barby said the incident was still under investigation.

Dashcam footage from the truck was able to be viewed by police which will help in determining what happened.

Sgt Barby said it is believed the scooter was emerging from the Port Fairy to Warrnambool rail trail to cross Toolong Road when he was struck by the truck.

He said the truck driver was uninjured and stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their inquiries.

Sgt Barby said police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident but request that anyone who witnessed the accident, has CCTV or dashcam footage, should call Crime Stoppers.
