THE Portland Secondary College Re-engagement program have completed a mural with the help of Portland artists and funding.
The project was funded by Freemasons Foundation Victoria and the Portland Masonic Lodge who have generously supported the RE program through grants for well over seven years.
Portland Masonic lodges Lionel Shelton commented on the positive changes he's noticed in the RE students, particularly in their social interactions with each other and members of the community.
Local artists Vicki Reynolds and Chris Webb facilitated the Mural Project and worked with students every Friday morning during term two.
They formed a great bond with the students over the 11 weeks while creating pieces of art through pencil drawings, paper mâché and block printing all with an outer space theme.
The artists said they got a lot out of their connection with the students.
RE Staff and students are grateful to both the artists and the Freemasons Foundation for their contributions to the RE program.
