AFTER being awarded a scholarship at the 2024 Hamilton Eisteddfod gaining her a place in the 2025 Summer Ballet School in Melbourne, Hamilton dancer, Mia Spong, 15, has been awarded yet another prestigious scholarship - this time at the Mount Gambier Eisteddfod.
Mia was competing in the Mount Gambier Eisteddfod last week when she was awarded the Sir Robert Helpmann Perpetual Memorial Trophy along with funding towards her dancing tuition.
She also placed as a runner up for the aggregate award in her age group.
Her dance teacher, Miss Kylie Lewis said that Mia had spent all of her holidays dancing and had placed in every Eisteddfod she was in.
“It’s so rewarding seeing Mia’s hard work, dedication and passion for dance be recognised,” she said.
Mia’s success is also shared by her Hamilton Dance company teachers and its students.
“We are so proud watching her grow as an artist and keep pursuing excellence in her chosen craft,” Miss Lewis added.
Mia said, “I have loved every opportunity I’ve had on stage this year.
“To be recognised and rewarded in all genres is such an amazing feeling.”
