SOUTH West TAFE (SW TAFE) Certificate IV Visual Arts students were busy putting paint to wall last week, painting an illustrative mural depicting the different aspects of rural life and the values of Sheepvention in an honest way.
SW TAFE Visual Arts teacher, Nathan Pye said “we have loved working with Sheepvention to create these murals”.
“It gives the students the opportunity to work on a project for real-world clients and to get seen by thousands of people,” he said.
After having received a positive response on their striking 2023 Sheepvention mural, the SW TAFE visual arts students were delighted to be commissioned to do another mural project to be a featured at this year’s Sheepvention.
Mr Pye said, “Sheepvention generously donated a space and we worked with them”.
“The students did the design beforehand specifically in a short time frame,” he said.
“They used a photo of the location, then drew over the picture of the actual space digitally using certain design elements.”
The recently-finished mural was painted on a toilet block at the Hamilton Showgrounds near College Street.
“The visual arts students got the job done in record time for Sheepvention,” Mr Pye said.
“It took them two sessions of about five hours each – they did a great job.”
