THE construction period of the new Portland Bunnings now has an approximate end date.
Late last week Bunnings regional manager Dave Roddis told the Observer that mid-2025 is when the business hopes construction of the new store will be completed.
“We’ve started some on-site early works and construction will begin in the next few weeks,” he said.
“We’re hopeful for a mid-2025 completion date.”
Last week construction vehicles were seen on the site of the future Bunnings store, which will be located on New St near the Portland Ring Road (Henty Hwy), and workers were seen undertaking preliminary road and drainage works, the Observer reported on Friday.
Portland Bunnings will comprise of a main warehouse retail area, timber trade yard, building materials and landscape supplies yard, and an outdoor nursery, Mr Roddis said.
Local contractor Mibus Bros are undertaking civil and road works while the store itself will be built by 4 Dimensions, he said.
“The new store represents an investment of over $17 million in the local community, which will span more than 5300sqm and create over 50 new team member roles,” he said.
“We’re looking forward to bringing a Bunnings store to Portland and offering locals a wide range of home, lifestyle and DIY products.”
