Short-stay levy to impact regional tourism

SHORT- STAY rental platforms will be charged a 7.5 per cent levy by the Victorian Government in hope to increase availability and deliver more affordable long-term housing, which has caused uncertainty within regional Victoria’s tourism industry.

The Short Stay Levy Bill 2024 introduced into Parliament plans to tax revenue collected by short-stay accommodation providers such as Airbnb and Stayz and will be applied to all bookings made from January 1 2025.
