GLATZ Black Angus enjoyed great success at their second annual Spring Cattleman’s Bull Sale on Monday September 9, which augments their long-standing February Bull Sale, in Avenue Range, South Australia.
There was total clearance of all 30 bulls on-property at Coroona, Branxholme sold to an average price of $9862.
The top price bull (Lot 6, Black Angus Blockbuster U5) was sold for $16,000 to Lagoon Partnership, Cavendish.
Blockbuster U5 was a son of Karoo Main Event and ranked in the top five per cent of the Angus breed for positive rump fat and top 10 per cent for many traits, including short gestational length, 400 and 600-day weight and carcass weight.
Lot 4, Black Angus Harry Taylor sold for $12,000 and Lot 5 for $10,000; both of these bulls were purchased by Mount Buffalo Grazing, Kangiara, NSW.
The stud was also proud to open the sale with a stud heifer at Lot 1 (Black Angus Adelaide U9), the proceeds of which were generously donated to the Angus Foundation; the heifer sold to Sunday Valley, Condah, Vic, for $6500.
As first-generation stud cattle-breeders, Glatz Black Angus were delighted to contribute to the foundation and facilitate greater youth engagement in agriculture.
Regardless of whether being from strong farming backgrounds or are just beginning to explore the ag industry, the Glatz family were eager to support their endeavours via the Angus Foundation and help provide them with a range of opportunities to enhance their knowledge and experience.
Staying true to their commitment to consistency and quality, the 2024 Glatz Black Angus catalogue was characterised by bulls bred to be robust, muscular and profit driven.
Glatz-sired cattle are fast-growing and efficient - ideal for developing self-replacing female herds.
Stud principals, Ben and Samantha Glatz have refused to compromise on production traits like structure, fertility and docility.
Mr Glatz was pleased with such a strong, successful sale in such a challenging season, underpinned by local community support.
Glatz Black Angus’ sound, quiet and high performing genetics can handle high stocking rates and have been continually appreciated by clients through SA, as well as into Victoria and New South Wales.
Nutrien stud stock auctioneer, Peter Godbolt said the offering were in ideal condition to put out with cows but also to see their genetic potential.
“They are young bulls with a heap of carcass merit and also plenty with calving ease quality,” he said.
The Glatz family were delighted by the warm support shown by locals in the Western Districts community, as well as their wider client base.
Ben, Samantha, Dylan and Jack were eager to continue developing these relationships further as they continued their commitment to breeding cattle and plan to expand with an Autumn Bull sale at Coroona in 2025, as well as their Avenue SA long standing Autumn Bull sale.
