MORE than 60 past and present residents and students of the Yulecart School came together to celebrate 100 years since the construction of the charming bluestone Hall.
The hall has served the community as a meeting place, sporting venue (badminton and bicycle racing on the velodrome), community gatherings (parties, dancing, community dinners), home of the Hamilton Wool and Craft Guild and the arena regularly hosts Hamilton Pony Club events.
Visitors were fascinated to see the large collection of photographs from the past 100 years taken at the Hall, the arena and the school, bringing back many memories with stories shared among the visitors.
Joyce Steele, Yulecart, and Arnold Habel, Hamilton, had the honour of cutting the birthday cake.
The site of the long-gone Yulecart Primary School was also recognised with a plaque. The single room primary school, number was opened in 1874, with enrolments up to 70 pupils in the early 1900s, before finally closing in 1964.
The next generation of Yulecart residents enjoyed the day with games from a bygone era that included egg-and-spoon and bag races.
The celebrations concluded with an old-time dance in the 100-year-old hall.
