More training for CFA volunteers

COUNTRY Fire Authority (CFA) volunteers are likely to have to undertake 21 hours of driver training to drive a tanker or other CFA emergency vehicle.

At the moment, tanker drivers are required to have a Heavy Vehicle License but under new plans, the CFA proposes a draft driver endorsement operational procedure 12.08, which will call for volunteer drivers to complete the 21-hour training course within two years.
