RADLEY’S of Hamilton has changed ownership with the local enterprise now in the hands of Peter Pollock and Ian Powlton following the sale by Peter and Wendy Radley after running the business for more than 50 years.

The business is mainly a Yamaha dealership of boats, parts and accessories including Yamaha outboard motors.

“We also have trailers, accessories and parts for trailers,” Mr Powlton said.

“We have the ability to source all Yamaha parts, but we also service all outboard motors.”

Mr Powlton said he and his partner Mr Pollock had grand plans for the business.

“We’re in the process of setting up to purchase fishing tackle, lures and those sorts of things – in the near future we’ll be moving into any fishing related products,” he said.

“We’re also in the process of looking at different boat brands that we can bring into the business including secondhand boats and motors and offering service and maintenance.”

Mr Powlton said he and his partner were proud to take over such a reputable business that has been established for decades.

“We’ve got a good clientele base that’s been there for years,” he said.

“We’ve got people walking through the door wanting advice on different things.

“We’re there to provide a service to the community and in the coming weeks we’ll be doing quotes for boats for Yamaha finance and insurance.”

Former owner, Peter Radley said he was glad to be leaving the business in capable hands.

“I’m very happy with what they’re doing,” he said.

“My father had the business from 1965, and I bought it in 1974.

“I’ve actually worked at the business for 57 years because I worked for my father before I bought the business.”

“It was very busy – I worked there six days a week.”

Mr Radley said he would be taking a well-earned break after working in the business for almost six decades.

Asked what he was going to do in retirement – “have a rest,” he said.

Radley’s of Hamilton is open Monday-Friday 8am-5pm and on Saturdays from 8-11am.
