ROAD users are again being warned to be aware of heavy, large, and slow-moving farm machinery this time of year as the traffic to and from farms increases during crop sewing.
Drivers are being urged to slow down and be careful when overtaking slow, heavy, and large vehicles and trucks, as well as cautiously following behind at a safe distance whilst being mindful of road conditions.
Farmers who are operating larger vehicles more frequently on Victorian roads at this time of year are also being reminded of the legal requirements of driving oversized or over massed vehicles.
The farming community should contact the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator for information on the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), regarding heavy vehicle access, accreditation, vehicle standards and fatigue management needs.
However, VicRoads is still responsible for operating conditions for oversize agricultural light vehicles.
