THE State Government recently announced support for Victorian Agricultural and Pastoral Societies to help their COVID recovery.
Over $1 million in funding for 79 events will enable show societies across the state to support free entry for children to shows and field days.
Grants from $750 to more than $90,000 have been awarded under the Government’s one-off investment in the Children Entry COVID Recovery Grants program.
Agriculture Victoria’s policy and programs executive director, Sarah-Jane McCormack, congratulated the successful recipients.
“The grants are an amazing way to ensure more children and families can come and enjoy the offerings of our state’s regional and rural shows,” she said.
“Well done to the shows that have already taken place and look out for all the shows still to come across the state.
“Regional and rural shows have had a difficult two years, and it’s exciting to see them come back bigger and brighter than ever.”
Victorian Agriculture executive officer of shows, Rod Bowles, said he was delighted to see the grants be awarded to shows right across the state.
“A big thank you to the Victorian Government for supporting the Victorian Agricultural and Pastoral Societies and our recovery from the impacts of COVID-19,” he said.
