AGENTS yarded 56,635 lambs at Hamilton on Wednesday, an increase of 28,635.

The overall quality was good, with lambs displaying freshness and more weight than the previous sale on Monday, however there were lambs still showing dryness, these were mainly younger and immature lambs suitable for the paddock.

A larger field of buyers were present, not all processers operated fully and there was strong interest in store lambs this time depending on type as well as processer competition for the light lamb order.

The market for light weight lambs began firm to end up $10 to $15 more so for lambs back to the paddock, and for lambs up to 22kg to 24kg were firm to $5p/hd stronger.

Lambs 26kg plus sold $15 to $25p/hd dearer and more in places in comparison to last Monday’s sale.

The top suckers made to $274p/hd.

New season light lambs 12kg to 16kg sold from $88 to $133p/hd.

Light trade lambs 18kg to 22kg made from $134 to $187p/hd to average between 700c and 810c/kg cwt.

Medium trade lambs 22kg to 26kgs made from $153 to $229p/hd to average between 760c to 820c/kg cwt.

Heavy lambs over 26kgs made between 760c to 880c/kg cwt, all quality driven.
