Lambs offer less weight but sheep quality rises

HAMILTON agents yarded 2200 lambs along with 800 sheep at Wednesday’s market representing a slight increase in numbers.

Overall, this week there was less weight on offer with a good lead in the shorn, better finished quality lambs. There was a tail. Sheep on offer had an improvement in quality and covered most weights and grades. Not all regular buyers were fully active, and no feeder or store competition was evident. The better lambs were firm on last week with the tail end lambs to the trade $10 per head softer and the very light weights cheaper by $20p/hd.
