Local livestock agent retires after 43 years

LIVESTOCK agent Andrew Gunn, pictured in action at the 2019 Weaner Sales, recently retired after 43 years in the industry. After getting his start in Tasmania, he served various parts of Western Victoria since 1987 and his last 11 years with the Kerr & Co team. His diverse and varied experience led to Andrew being widely regarded as one of the best livestock agents in the industry, particularly in sheep agency; he also served for over two decades in managerial positions. He was well known in the district for his precise and accurate assessment of livestock, exceptional communication skills and personal and professional presentation. A great mentor for younger agents, he was expecting to travel, “coming and going from Hamilton … exploring more of Australia and the world, and in between following up on my hobbies”. “I can say the industry has been very kind to me, yes challenging at times but most rewarding in all aspects. The characters I have met, the friends I have made, it’s been worth it every minute and I take away many fond memories.” Photo: SPEC FILE.
